Members' duty rota

All club members are required to do 'duty' on at least one evening each year. It is a great way to meet other club members and ensures that the club can open on Monday and Thursday evenings. If you cannot do your
duty please arrange to swap with another club member.

Duty
person's role
- Ensure that all members
getting on to paddle, sign in the paddlers book before they
get on the water and sign again when they get off.
- Ensure that everyone
on the water or pontoons is wearing a bouyancy aid.
- Act as focal point
in case of accidents and emergencies.
- Ensuring all paddlers
are aware of their responsibilities with regard to their own
safety. New or inexperienced paddlers should not go beyond the immediate basin (basically they need to stay in sight of the club.
- The duty rota
is to ensure that the club is a friendly, informative and SAFE
environment. If you cannot make your duty night then it is ESSENTIAL
that you find a replacement duty person.
- If you are unsure of anything, just ask another member at the club. Experienced members are present on almost every evening and will be happy to advise.
Note: The club no longer accepts visits from non-members who wish to paddle unless they attend either an New Members evening (free), a Taster Evening (£10, prepaid) or have been invited as the guest of a member who will accompany them on the water (£5 - to be collected, and passed to a committee member or placed in the Duty Box), and must join the club if they wish to make futher visits.
Non-members must attend an Introduction Evening, they cannot view the club on any other club evening.
