New Members' Evenings
New Members evenings - for new members and visitors
We run regular New Members evenings at which new members and non-members can visit the club. Volunteers will explain how the club works, including the premises, the kit available, canal and pool sessions, activities, coaching, river trips and social activities.
There is no charge for attending a New Members evening but we do ask you to book in advance, so we have a rough idea of numbers.
These evenings are designed to introduce individuals, friends and couples to the club. Please do not bring a large group (more than three) to these sessions.
You will not be able to paddle on these evenings unless you join the club as a member. This can be done on the evening itself (please bring a completed membership form and correct payment). See membership for more information. Blank membership forms are also available at the club.
Please arrive at the club at 6.30pm for Monday sessions, 7pm for Thursday sessions. If you arrive late you may be asked to come back another time. The session will last about an hour.
Any new member to the club must attend a New Members evening before using the club facilities - unless they have attended a Taster Evening, an Introduction to White Water Kayaking course, or have been introduced to the club by an existing member.
Upcoming dates for New Members evenings in 2011/2012.
To book a place, just click on the date you require and email us your name, address and phone number. We won't use any of this information unless we need to contact you before the evening. As there is plenty of spaces at each session we will not send any confirmation of your booking. We look forwards to seeing you there.

What you need to wear if paddling
If you have joined the club you can paddle on the canal on the New Members' Evening.
Bring clothes that you do not mind getting wet, such as an old tracksuit or woolly jumper. Jeans and other heavy cotton clothes are not suitable. Footwear, such as old trainers or plimsolls, is a must and, if it is cold, a woolly hat and a lightweight nylon jacket or cagoule would also be useful.
Changing rooms (and showers) are available if you need to change your clothes.
You will need to bring a towel, a change of dry clothing for after paddling and a plastic bag (for your wet gear).
