Becoming a member

Regents currently has over 100 members, with a 50/50 mix of men and women. Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18.

You do not have to have any previous paddling experience to join the club. Many new members have joined after attended one of our open evenings or courses, but you do not have to do this.

The membership year runs from June and membership fees for new members are calculated on a quarterly pro rata basis as shown below:

1st June - 30th August - £48
1st September – 30th November - £36
1st December – 31st February - £24
1st March - 31st May - £12

The unemployed and registered students are entitled to a 50% discount.

Full membership entitles you to paddle on the canal, hire equipment, receive newsletters, and go on club trips.

Boats, paddles and bouyancy aids are available for use on club nights, changing rooms and hot showers are also available.  A slalom course is set out on the City Road Basin. Members have free use of all equipment and facilities during club opening hours.

The club owns a good deal of equipment which can be hired outside of club hours by club members. See Equipment page.

Members may introduce guests to the club on Monday and Thursday evenings, providing they take personal responsibility for the guest(s) and accompany them on the water. The cost to the guest is £5, payable to the Duty Officer or a committee member. Guests must sign the Casual User Form, available from the Duty Officer.

Associate membership is only intended for members who have moved away and wish to stay in touch with the club - they cannot paddle on the canal or hire equipment.

Any persons living inside the M25 wishing to join only as associate members should apply to be considered on an individual basis by the committee. Cost is £15 per year (no discount for unemployed or students).
