Visiting the club

Non-members
Each month the club offers opportunities for non-members to visit the club.

Our Open Evenings provide non-members with an opportunity to be shown around the club and given access to the water. Please note that no formal instruction is given on these evenings.

Club Taster Evenings are two hour sessions which are aimed at non-members who have no previous experience of kayaking, but who want to have a go at paddling under the guidance of experienced volunteers, in a safe, fun and friendly environment.

You must be able to swim and aged over 18. Bring a change of clothes for paddling in, trainers or sandals for wearing when on the water and a towel. All sessions start at 6.30pm.

See courses for dates, costs and booking information.

Once you have attended an Open Evening or Taster session you will need to join the club to continue paddling. See membership.

Non-members may also visit the club during opening hours to have a look around, but cannot use the facilities or access the water. More information.

Members
Members of RCC are able to paddle on the canal every Monday and Thursday evening at no additional cost. Members may introduce guests to the club on these evenings, providing that they take personal responsibility for the guest(s) and accompany them on the water.

This includes ensuring they only use a spraydeck if you are satisfied that they have had previous experience of using one and that they have completed a capsize test with spraydeck. If in doubt do not provide them with one. Encourage them to join the club and do a capsize test with spraydeck at the canal or a pool session.

The cost to the guest is £5, payable to the Duty Officer or a committee member. Guests must sign the Casual User Form, available from the Duty Officer.
